BeamClamp on Rother Valley Railway Bridge

BeamClamp on Rother Valley Railway Bridge

Type BB BeamClamp fixings were used in combination with suitable packing pieces to connect railway sleepers to the supporting steelwork for a railway bridge on the Rother Valley Railway line.  The BB Clamps allowed final adjustment of the sleepers to the supporting steelwork before they were finally tightened into position.  They also allowed the sleepers to be secured without the need to drill through the supporting steelwork and therefore ensure that the galvanised surface of the steel remained unbroken to provide the best possible life of the structure.  The BB Clamp is also Hot Dipped Galvanised to match most steel structures and ensures a life span of the clamps that can match the steel it is connecting to.  The history and background to the Rother Valley Railway can be found at http://www.rvr.org.uk/
